5 Statement Earrings to Amplify your Lazy Day Look

1/2/3/4/5

We all have those days where we just wake up a wee bit lazy! Sometimes it just takes a bit of extra energy to summon yourself to rise out of the covers. But on the days when you aren’t ready to primp and prep your whole look from scratch, here is a great trick. Pull those locks back into your favorite up-do, spray on some dry shampoo (mine is Living Proof Day Dry Shampoo), whether it is a ponytail or a bun and “just add earrings!”

In high school and University, I was always the girl who just wore simple diamond stud earrings everyday. My earring choice was always so predictable. I distinctly remember one of my best friends, Russell poking fun at my mundane accessories. However, once I started in the broadcasting world, I began to explore different accessories. I quickly learned, accessories are your friend! And can even transform a lazy, late morning look into glam classic style. Here are some of my favorites!

Let’s start with the earrings of the summer shall we!

1. The Bauble Earring

I bought mine at Club Monaco at the beginning of summer and am so happy I did. For so long I would see similar styles in fellow bloggers posts I follow and I was so memorized. I am so in love with mine and am looking to expand my colors for the fall and winter. You better believe you are going to see more of this style in BTB! Also, I love all the compliments I get when I wear them. They almost give me a burst of confidence!

2. The Tassel Earring

Tassel earrings are just as fun as bauble earrings! They spice up your look and really draw attention to your face. You can wear a very simple outfit and then just throw on a pair of these bad boys and add a fun flare. My favorite tassel earrings incorporate fun colors and dangle long along the face. I feel like they compliment so many different face shapes as they move with you. I think I have a problem because I honestly want to get them all…

3. What’s all the hoop-la?

Hoops can sometimes carry an odd connotation to them. Or maybe that’s just me nervous about getting them caught in my sweater… But honestly, I feel like a strong, independent women when I throw on a pair of hoops. I am here and ready to be fierce! Now with that being said, I haven’t worn mine in a long time!

This post is seriously making me reconsider my life choices. Hoop earrings can be so much fun and can really add a simple, elegance to a look. I love when women wear their hair back, with fresh natural makeup, a classic clean look and a pair of hoops. Something about them just screams fierce, elegance to me. (And unlike Gretchen Wieners in Mean Girls, everyone should be able to wear their hoops.)

4. The Drop Earring

You can get the same effect as the tassel earring in a shorter, lighter version called the drop earring. I nicknamed the ones I own “the dusters” because they remind me of feather dusters (On Sale now at Banana Republic – photo below, Tan, Blue)! Still dangling off the earlobe away from the fact, but a little shorter in range. I love the look of these because they have so much personality! You can even get some that look like the bauble earring, but if you can’t handle the full strand of three balls, you can find one here.

5. The Feather Duster

Bringing natural elements can add a bit of whimsy to a look. I got a pair of yellow feather earrings in Costa Rica in a small village and I love them to pieces. Whenever I wear them I feel like I add a punch of color to any look and a touch of natural appeal. If you want to go for the soft, simple approach to signature earrings, give feathers a try!

Overall, I am so happy I have expanded my horizons when it comes to confidently wearing statement pieces. It’s so fun to dress up a conventional look with costume jewelry. Especially when you can usually find statement pieces on sale. A cheap and easy way to amplify typical style with a pop of sass.
