Plaid Skirts & Fall Cider
“A strong friendship doesn’t need daily conversation, doesn’t always need togetherness, as long as the relationship lives in the heart, true friends will never part…”
The Joys of Spontaneity
I really think some of the best moments in life happen spontaneously. It has been two years since one of my best friends Sarah has been home. And though we catch up all the time through text, social media and long distance phone calls we wanted to take advantage of our time in the same room for once!

West Avenue Cider House
Sarah and I only had so much time to catch up in person so we decided to hit one of our favorite fall stops, Butwick’s farm. However, when we arrived expecting a quick butter tart we stumbled upon so much more! The farm had been sold and converted into a cider bar called West Avenue Cider House! Bonus! Needless to say we welcomed the surprise and ordered a flight of cider. The atmosphere and the drinks were the perfect pairing for best friends who need some time to chat and catch up.
Living in the country has always been an adventure. As soon as we stepped in West Avenue Cider House we knew we would be back. The hospitality was warm and the environment was almost saying, “come in and stay awhile, we’re in no rush“. Also, I’ll take a full round trip with flights of three ciders priced at $6!
– Plaid Ruffle Mini Skirt –
Plaid for Fall
On our fall adventure I put together this feminine country look. If you ask me if “country chic” is thing, I will definitely say yes! I have been trying to find a good quality plaid skirt for some time. The key word here is “quality” and it seems these days quality is harder and harder to find.
I fell in love with this wool plaid skirt from J.Crew the moment I laid eyes on it. The colors are complimentary of the country and the quality is really high on the stitching and the fabric. Because the skirt already has so much character I decided to keep the rest of the outfit simple with a fun touch in the tights. I picked up these tights from Forever 21 and found some similar pairs in the slider at the bottom of this post!
Of course you can wear plaid skirts any time of year, it just seems fall is the best time to bust them out!
Each year around this time I visit the farm and the best part will always be the animals. I have to say I am so happy to see they are still a part of this country gem. There is something so peaceful about being surrounded by greenery and livestock. Find some time this fall to escape the hustle and bustle of the city to enjoy nature.
