White Dresses and Spring 2018
There is nothing I love more than wearing a summer dress on a warm night. Summer temperatures make fashion so easy. This spring and summer I am challenging myself to wear more dresses. I always seem to opt for pants or something more casual. Dresses are the perfect solution to an easy on the go outfit with a feminine flare.
I recently purchased this adorable white dress from Banana Republic. After window shopping and falling in love with this design I knew I had to go back and grab it. My favorite part of this dress is the layering on the bottom paired with the full t-shirt sleeve. It’s comfortable and to be honest, really fun!
Dress Up & Dress Down
Because I am challenging myself to wear more dresses I’ve devised a plan. Dresses are easy to style up and to style down. This being said, no matter the occasion a dress will work in most cases. Here are some of my quick tips on how to do this:
Dressing Down
- Add a jean jacket
- A simple scarf for an added layer
- Pair of sneakers or loafers
- Hair pulled back or half-up/half-down
- Simple jewelry
- Simple satchel or neutral clutch
Dressing Up
- A sweet cardigan
- Statement jewelry
- Statement hand bag (cult gaia, costume bag)
- A heel open or close toed
- Your favorite night out hair style
A Timeless Wardrobe
Diving into a trendy piece or purchasing a classic gown really depends on where you are shopping. It is definitely easier to lean towards the trendy side when shopping fast fashion. However though buying a whole new wardrobe for summer can be fun it can also be frivolous. One of the biggest things I have learned in my years as a consumer is spending a little more on a quality piece will be well worth it.
The good thing about finding the right white dress is they are usually timeless without fail. To this day I still have a white dress I bought over five years ago and I never think twice about throwing it on. Not only is this great on my budget but also the environment!
